Setting weight related goals and constantly weighing ourselves can be completely detrimental for our self esteem. Many people rely on their weight as an indication of their progress, yet there are so many other methods that will help you to feel better about yourself and truly recognise what you are achieving.

Forcing yourself to do exercise that you aren’t passionate about is likely to impact your progression as you won’t feel as motivated. So, one of your goals could be to learn a new fitness skill. Moving your body in a new way will help you to progress massively.

If you usually do lots of cardio training, spend one or two sessions a week in the weights section. The weightlifters out there might benefit from a run once or twice a week in their local park. Giving yourself time to sleep properly each night should be more of a priority than fitting in another gym session. When you are well-rested you will find it much easier to reach your goals.

Get Stronger

A great fitness goal is to simply get stronger. Goals that have no definite ending are great for your mental health, as you will always have something to strive for and you will not punish yourself if you don’t manage to reach a specific target.

Incorporate a couple of weights sessions in a week and you will notice such a big difference. You might find physically demanding tasks around the house more simple, picking up your kids will feel less difficult and your overall fitness will improve massively.
